HONG KONG: Hong Kong singer-actor Ronald Cheng has always been very secretive about his relationship matters, even going so far as to keep his marriage to singer Charlene Choi a secret until they had a very public divorce in March last year.
However, things seem to have changed for Cheng since he became a dad in July this year.
The 38-year-old actor played it straight when he spoke to reporters during a promotional event for his new film "Treasure Hunt" in Hong Kong on Tuesday, and revealed that he had officially married girlfriend Sammie Yu on July 22, Hong Kong media said.
"I got married, on July 22 at home. She (Yu) wore a wedding gown and I wore a suit and registered [our marriage].
"We'll hold the wedding banquet when my daughter turns one and is able to walk and hand us the wedding rings," said Cheng.
Cheng, who showed off his wedding band during the promotional event, added that it was a moving wedding where the bride cried and the groom kneeled, but declined to elaborate on what sort of vows he had prepared for the 'homemade' wedding.
He went on to express that being a father is a very enjoyable experience and said he wished to "have a few more" children.
Cheng said he had to put these plans on hold because Yu is still recovering from the caesarean section she underwent during the birth of their baby girl.
Cheng's ex-wife Choi gave the couple her blessings when told about their union during a promotional event on Wednesday.
"Congratulations! [I] wish them happiness. Now his (Cheng) status is different.
"He has become a father and I believe he is a very capable dad," said Choi.
Choi, who is currently dating Hong Kong singer William Chan, said she too would like to have many children but the time was not right yet.
